Title: Somatic chromosome structure and nucleolar organization in Anemone coronaria L., Ranunculus asiaticus L. and Eranthis hyemalis Salisb. (Ranunculaceae)

Abstract: Karyological and nucleolar studies have been conducted on Anemone coronaria, Ranunculus asiaticus and Eranthis hyemalis. Based on x = 8, all the species are diploid. The somatic chromosomes are meta-, submeta- and acrocentric. The number of nucleolar chromosomes ranges from 2-6 and are highly polymorphic within and between the species. The nucleolar chromosome number per diploid complement has been authenticated on the basis of nucleolar number per nucleus of root-tip cells.
