Abstract: The study covers an account of the observations of the fish ecology and modifications of the feeding apparatus. The morphology contains original observation on the functional anatomy of the feeding apparatus including the gross morphology and histology. These are elucidated separately for mouth, lips and barbels; oral and pharyngeal values; buccal cavity and pharynx; gill rankers and teeth. The introduction gives a succinct account of the fishes of Kashmir; origin and distribution of Kashmir fishes and original observations on general ecology, which includes: topography of the valley, temperature and rain falls; the description of important lakes, rivers and streams of valley.
